Mormonism encourages uplifting, clean language. For believers this is a blessing because the spirit thrives when clean, pure language is used. Using clean language allows you to stand out from other people and be an example for the church and a disciple of Christ. Using clean language instead of reverting to swear or other dirty words to express yourself can help you develop vocabulary and help you become more articulate. This will benefit you succeed in the workplace by making you more professional. Many believing Mormons are so shielded from swearing and dirty language that they become socially awkward when such language is used. Some Mormons end up knowingly or unknowingly displaying arrogance or condescension towards those who swear. This can prevent friendships from deepening, and hamper one’s ability to network.	The ex-believer is more likely to have tried out saying swear words and thus is more likely to have enjoyed the satisfaction that comes from swearing. They are also more likely to be comfortable around people that use “bad language” and have seen that “bad language” is often an irrelevant marker to the quality of one’s character. They are more likely to see restrictions on swearing as a superficial  litmus test of conformity that encourages judgmental behavior, than as something that actually promotes good character and morality.
